Connecting Entrepreneurial Communities Conference coming to Port Huron
A conference for new business owners will offer more than 25 breakout sessions.

The Greater Port Huron Region is hosting the 2016 statewide Connecting Entrepreneurial Communities Conference, featuring more than 25 speakers from all over the state, including Detroit, Grand Rapids, Sturgis and Canada. The two-day event is Oct. 5-6 and is expected to draw well over 100 attendees from across the state and beyond, including Canada.
The Blue Water Area Chamber of Commerce, Economic Development Alliance, Michigan State University Extension and local community planning partners are organizing the conference. Attendees are invited to hear several speakers on a variety of topics, like best practices and fresh ideas regarding entrepreneurship, youth entrepreneurship development, talent retention, tourism, placemaking, local agriculture, craft beer and regional food systems and building a downtown for entrepreneurs. There will be many breakout sessions on a wide variety of topics, all designed to provide ideas, resources and information each participant can take back to their communities.
The sessions are held in the various businesses in the community so people can tour the historic downtown as they move from session to session. This creative approach has proven enjoyable and offers plenty of opportunity for networking and seeing first-hand an entrepreneurial community at work. For more information, visit this website.
