Alphonso Amos works tirelessly with multiple organizations and nonprofits; and not just in our community, but others as well. Driven by passion and the desire to serve, Amos is aware that if he stops or falters, others may go without.
“Circumstances brought me here, but something about the city drew me in,” says Tyler Moldovan. He is an example of the fresh new perspectives that the younger generation is bringing to the city, says The Keel’s Mikaela Westrick.
“I think with our downtown, specifically, we are all such a good team. The other coffee shops, the other sandwich shops — we all work together. We want each other to succeed, we want everyone to support us all,” Kate Voss says. “It’s really nice. We’re pretty much all friends, we’re all in this together.”
Like many a Michigander with connections to Canada, Ashley Macpherson has made the trip so many times that she’s grown a great affinity for the Blue Water Area. So much so, in fact, that Ashley and her young family recently packed up and moved from metro Detroit to St. Clair, purchasing a home and putting their roots down in November 2019.
Despite the hardships that COVID-19 wrought in 2020, the year was a relatively good one for the Family Birth Place, its patients and its staff. And the work that was done in 2020 promises to make 2021 and the years following even better.
