Spring cleaning: 3 affordable homes in Port Huron

Now that we’re thawing out from a long, cold winter, it’s time to take another look around the block and see how Port Huron’s real estate is shaping up. Just as the temperatures heat up, so too should housing market.

While we typically look at entry level and affordable homes below $100,000, this week’s entrant breaks that arbitrary rule by just a little bit. We mean, just look at the place.

1625 Gordon Street: $59,900

This baby blue bungalow comes in below $60,000, perhaps allowing the buyer some financial wiggle room to update the house. Of course, those wood paneled walls are about as retro as it gets these days. The hardwood floors have been refinished, too. Just blocks from the Black River, Tailgators Sports Bar, and Port Huron Little League Park.

1401 Stanton Street: $89,900

At over 2,000 square feet, this big house has a front porch to match, perfect for taking in the warm summer breeze off the river. Also, just across the street is Haynes Park and the St. Clair County Community College campus, which will come in handy when considering tenants. It’s true; this house is a rental-certified duplex. The house itself was built in 1908 but has since been split into upper and lower rental flats.

311 Lakeview Avenue: $100,000

With it being situated just blocks from the beginnings of Lake Huron, we might break our $100,000 rule based on location alone. But this tiny yet mighty home has loads of style to justify the rule change, as well. According to the listing, this home is called the Doll House and a quick look at the photos reveal just why that is. Walk to the waterfront, Lighthouse Park, and Fort Gratiot Lighthouse.
