Corn maze, tractor pulls, hay rides, & more agritainment fun at Becks Farm and Produce

Greg and Kate Beck spent their childhoods growing up in Armada and share fond memories of annual outings to the local orchards picking seasonal produce and their very own pumpkins. The childhood friends grew up, married, and initially settled on a small farm in Clyde on North Road, but they always dreamed of creating a space for their family and community to experience the same fun.

“There wasn’t really anything out in Clyde like my husband and I had enjoyed growing up as kids, so we wanted to create an affordable place where families from the community could bring their little ones to make memories, experience farm fun, fall hay rides, and children could pick out their very own fall pumpkins,” Kate Beck shares.

After lots of research, discussion, and planning, in 2019 the Beck family relocated to the 100-year-old farm at the McNaughton Estate on Beard Road where their now 12-acre agritainment dream became a reality in Becks Farm and Produce.

Beginning with 350 pumpkins and a family roadside self-serve farm stand, the family grew the farm from there. In their second year, the business sold 1,500 pumpkins, 2,000 during the third, and the Becks anticipate having 25,000 pumpkins available from their pumpkin patch this fall.

The Becks’ two children, Elizabeth, 8, and Jonathan, 9, help with basic chores around the farm such as caring for the chickens. The Becks say sharing farm responsibilities has brought their family closer and helped teach their children responsibility and family values. Now they dream of this becoming a multi-generational business.

“My grandmother would have absolutely loved this,” Kate Beck says.

Beck Farm and Produce is completely family-owned and operated, fully staffed by family members and a few close friends. Kate Beck manages the farm full time while Greg Beck works at Lewis Farms in Clyde, whose cattle provide the beef that is also sold at Becks Farm and Produce.

In addition to the sale of eggs, sweet corn, and beef, Greg Beck has single-handedly roto-tilled a 5-acre corn maze he designed himself, creating something unique year after year. There is a kid’s play zone with a small playhouse, straw mountains, and bales of hay to climb. Weather permitting, tractor hay rides are available on weekends with seats and sides for safety and to prevent falls. The farm also has cider and donuts from The Property Farms and McCallum’s Orchard in Jeddo available for visitors.
