#PeopleofPortHuron: Jackie Hanton, creating legacies across the community Jackie Hanton loves being a part of the Blue Water region. In her role as vice president of the Community Foundation of St. Clair County, she gets to make a strong impact on the lives of many people. She describes her role as “connecting donors with their charitable passions.” She focuses on helping people find ways to give back to the community with donations in life or after death. Talking about death can be difficult, she says, a lot of people don’t like talking about after death things, but Jackie loves having those conversations with people. “I absolutely love those kinds of planning things.” She helps people figure out what type of legacy they can leave, and assures them the Community Foundation will continue to do good in their names and they can impact generations of people, even after death. When she’s not busy working at the Community Foundation, Jackie and her family lead a full, active life. One of her passions is Cross-fit training, and you might even spot her at the gym at 6 a.m. Together, they do 5K runs that often support local organizations, like Hunter House or the YMCA. Working in downtown Port Huron gives Jackie really loves all the places downtown has to offer. “I have an awesome network of businesses, so I try to rotate them all on my calendar.” Downtown has become a very active place in the last few years, and things are looking up. “We’re on the cusp of yet another wave of development,” she says. Watching the rebirth of the community has been amazing, we’ve made it over the crest and are riding the moment with a renewed spirit,” Jackie says. “We’ve got a good energy and it’s going to continue. #PeopleofPortHuron #downtownPortHuron #downtown
