#PeopleofPortHuron: Tiffany Sabo, pursuing passions one sale at a time Tiffany Sabo took her love of science to college, majoring in geology and planning for a future revolved around that. But life took her in another direction, where her dreams and love of fashion would play a bigger role. About six years ago, Tiffany taught herself how to sew and began designing her own hair bows, scrunchies and other accessories that she sells in an Etsy shop called Duende Decor. The brand has quickly grown to the point that she’s been able to wholesale some of her styles to shops like Ruboo Boutique. She loves the creative outlet designing the accessories affords her. In the last year, Tiffany added another business, selling skincare with Rodan & Fields, which has grown rapidly. She loves that all of her jobs give her the flexibility to stay home with her two daughters, and be involved with the community. The Sabos have lived in Port Huron for about nine years. She and Josh have decided to put roots in the city they’ve quickly grown to love. “We keep getting drawn back to Port Huron,” she says. “We love this area.” From it’s growing downtown business community to the unwavering support from other entrepreneurs, Port Huron is a place where a family can grow. “Port Huron is a great spot, it’s really a hidden gem,” Tiffany says. She is passionate about supporting other business owners, especially women, and believes one of the best ways to grow a company is to support others doing the same thing. That’s why you’ll find Tiffany and her family downtown several days a week. Perhaps you’ll see her at Tio Gordos for Taco Tuesday, at The Raven or Exquisite Corpse for a cup of coffee, at Papaya Branch Boutique checking out new styles, or at Kate’s Downtown grabbing brunch. When it comes to launching a new store or product, Tiffany says don’t be afraid to fail. Put yourself out there and make connections. Working together can really help a business grow, she’s found that to be 100 percent true in Port Huron. #PeopleofPortHuron #entrepreneur #workingmom, #downtownPortHuron #collaboration #startup #etsy #Duendedecor
