Friends of the St. Clair River to expand inside the Eddy Center with new Watershed Discovery Center

What’s Happening: The Friends of the St. Clair River is hosting an open house to showcase their new and expanding Watershed Discovery Center inside The Eddy Center. After moving to The Eddy Center three years ago, they decided to grow inside the building to afford ADA accessibility, more capacity, and modern amenities to deliver public programs, hands-on workshops, and school programs so more people can become stewards of the natural resources around them. 

When: December 3, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Where: The Eddy Center, located at 301 N. 9th Street in St. Clair.

Why it Matters: “The significance of a Watershed Center is that it connects more people to opportunities that protect and conserve their favorite spaces for a better place to call home,” says Sheri Faust, executive director of Friends of the St. Clair River. “The work we can do together by reaching more people makes a quantifiable impact on the health of the St. Clair River and its watersheds. Our Watershed Center is the tangible embodiment of our commitment to elevate the social, environmental, and recreational needs balanced with the economic priorities for the Blue Water Area. We’re committed to serving our region’s long-term needs.”

Become Involved: The Water Moves, We Move campaign is underway to support their growing demands to create a larger Watershed Discovery Center. They aim to raise $4,800 by Dec 31 to support the additional expense of moving into their expanded Watershed Center. The plan is for the new space to open in January 2025.
